Antique Bohemian Cased Glass Duck Egg Blue Vase for the Eastern Islamic Market (Code 0835)
A wonderful 19th century Persian shaped glass vase. It has a purple glass interior and is cased with a duck egg blue. It would have been made in Bohemia around 1850 and produced for the Islamic market and sold through the Ottoman Empire or through into the Middle Eastern region. It is very well made, and cased glass like this is very difficult to produce. The surface has a satin finish. Sometimes these pieces were highly gilded and jewelled for the Turkish market and/or cut to produce a pattern in the glass beneath. It is unusual to find one left in the natural state. The colour grading is lovely and you shine a very strong light though you get a fiery glow with purple outer.
Good for peiord with minor wear and a few light scuffs. Lovely tonality. Minor surface inconsistency from production.
