Antique Qajar Middle Eastern Brass Sharbat Jug with Thuluth Calligraphic Script (Code 1821)
An early 19th century Qajar brass jug. It has a cylindrical top and a mallet shaped body with a slightly convex base typical of Middle Eastern items. It is finely engraved with detailed patterns and Thuluth style calligraphic script. The handle is brazed to the the main body. This item would have been intended for use to serve drinks such as sharbat. Highly decorative and increasingly scarce these jugs come in many designs over a long time period while the body shape remains largely similar.
Good for period, minor knocks and dents, small split to the rim down the original join line of the brass and period wear. See images for general condition.
