Antique Royal Worcester China Hand Painted Blackberry Vase by A Shuck dated 1909 (Code 1697)
A Royal Worcester tall and slender twin handled vase with cover. This classic Worcester item is painted with blackberries to both faces. The body is one of the Hadley designs which Worcester acquired when they took over the works. It was painted by Albert Shuck, regarded as one of the best fruit painters at Worcester, although he was more commonly found painting fallen fruit rather than Autumn blackberries as with this example. The base has an antique gold finish and the handles also has some intended patination along with the gold. It has the Worcester mark in green with the date cipher for 1909 making it Edwardian and 110 years old. It is amazing how fresh and new well looked after porcelain can be despite such ages.
Very good order, minor gilt wear to lid. A fine example.
