Antique Silver Plated Victorian Decanter Stand With 3 Cut Glass Bottles c.1880 (code 7824)
A late 19th Century silver plated decanter stand with three cut glass decanters. The stand is attractively pierced with a repeating design and has foliate feet and a applied rim with dot detail. The carrying handle is also of foliate design. There are no makers marks to the metalwork. The central carrying handle can be unscrewed from the base.
The decanters all match and have a Gothic inspired design typical of the late 19th Century. They each come with matching hollow blown stoppers which we believe are original. Each decanter holds slightly under 500 mls.
A stylish set which is also fine for use.
Decanters generally good for period, only having very minor nicks and light wear and all being fine for use. Some of the stopper pegs do have chips as typical for period. There are also some air bubbles and mineral inclusions in the glass, again as typical for period.
Stand handle has been brazed at lower foliate point but is silvered over so may perhaps have been done in the factory. It also has some strengthening brazing at the joint with the stem. Plating generally intact. Minor faults around carrier rim.
Height 41 cms (16 inches) stand overall
Width 19 cms (7.5 inches) across stand
