Antique Spanish Silver Wine Taster (Tastevin) with King Carolus IIII Coin (Code 2709)
An early to mid 19th century Spanish silver wine taster (tastevin). It has a lobed body with indented details and a cast handle with floral terminal. The body is hand wrought and the base is set with an 8 reals coin dated 1807. The coin has a mark for the Mexican mint, it was common for these to be re-strikes when used as part of an item here. Aside for the details on the coin there are no further marks to the item itself. It tests as high grade silver.
The bowl is hand made so is not factory perfect. It has some wear as you would expect but there are no significant faults.
