Antique Thai Siamese Silver Repousse Thabeik Bowl with Kanok & Birds (Code 1842)
A late 19th or early 20th century small Siamese (now Thailand) silver thabeik bowl. It has repousse decoration of traditional Thai foliate design along with birds running around the body. To the base it also has some decoration and pointillist text. The bowl is hand beaten and you can still see traces of the planishing to the underside. It tests as a lower grade silver, around rupee grade, and this accords with these items which were commonly made of rupee silver.
Good for period with minor wear. Slight deformations at the rim quite possibly from the hand made nature of the object.
