The links carry individual lion sterling marks. The chain has a traditional dog clip and T-bar fittings. The T-bar bears the sponsor's mark B\u0026amp;C together with a partial hallmark - the Birmingham town mark is absent, but the date letter corresponds to Birmingham 1888.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSuspended from the shorter central section is a later sterling silver presentation fob. Its face has a polished shield-shaped cartouche surrounded by engraved scrolling decoration. The reverse is engraved N.S.L \/ WINNERS \/ 1948. The fob carries a complete Birmingham hallmark for 1947, indicating it was made shortly before the dated presentation engraving.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlbert chains were designed to be worn across a waistcoat, with the T-bar passing through a buttonhole and the dog clip securing a pocket watch. The shorter central section allowed a fob, medal or other accessory to hang visibly from the front.
