Art Deco White Onyx Dish with Austrian Cold Painted Pierrot Bronze Figure (Code 7786)
An Art Deco period figure of a musical Pierrot playing a lute mounted dish with a white onyx base. The figure is cast metal but has been painted in gilt obscuring the underlying metal. The face is carved and appears to be of faux ivory. It is of Austrian production and dates around 1930.
The onyx has good striping as you can just about make out in the images and there is a light coloured felt protector to the underside.
No makers marks found which is quite usual for these type of items.
One small chip to top edge as shown in the images. A couple of small bruises to rim. Natural flaws in onyx as expected. Slight losses of gilt to figure and gilt perhaps repainted. Overall a very attractive piece.
