Enamel Miniature Portrait of St Fabiola of Rome in Mahogany Frame (Code 2186)
A delightful miniature enamel portrait of Saint Fabiola set in a mahogany frame. The portrait is perhaps on copper and may have originally been a brooch, but now in a framed setting. The portrait is an interpretation of Henner's 19th century version, but using a different colour for the head scarf. Saint Fabiola was a Roman 4th century noble lady who in later life dedicated herself as a nurse physician and is the patron saint for divorcees, and other troubled relationship issues. It is a good quality piece, and the frame is also very nicely made. The enamel work is likely early 20th century and the frame perhaps mid century.
Minor period wear only, a very good example.
