Georgian Antique English Lead Glass Facet Stem Knopped OXO Band Wine Glass (Code 0822)
Description
A late 18th century George III period wine glass. It has a facet cut knopped stem and would be early in the facet stem series and around 1780 in date. It is an English example and made from lead glass. The facets are of diamond shape. Additionally the bowl is decorated with an OXO band with the band being somewhat larger than usual, especially with the size of the 'O's. The foot is conical and the pontil is rough snapped which was still usual for this period. The bowl is of rounded funnel shape, and of course is far smaller proportioned than we use for wine today.
Condition
Minor wear, some small air bubbles in the foot as typical for period. A nice example.
