Georgian Antique Silver Toddy Ladle with George III Shilling c1820 (Code 2401)
A good quality George III period toddy ladle with silver bowl and baleen handle. The bowl is set with a gilded shilling coin with date for 1787. The front of the bowl is etched with initials which look to read 'RH'. There are no hallmarks which is common for this period but the metal does test as Sterling grade silver. The handles is nicely made with a deep twist over the upper section and a silver cap.
Normal age related wear. Light scuffs and scratches. Gilding still generally good on the coin with rubbing at the edges and high points.
