Georgian Wine Glass Pair in Bristol Green Tone - English Lead Type c1820 (Code 2362)
A pair of Georgian wine glasses in Bristol Green lead glass. They are English and date to the early 19th century c1820. Each has a bell bowl cut with flute decoration over the lower bowl. The bowls joint to the stems with a pronounced merese which could rightly be considered a knop in its own right, and these sit on a cushion form from the stem top. There is also a basal spread of the stem with the foot join. The feet are conical and the pontil scars have been ground and polished out. They are of far higher quality that usual for the period and make a great pair for display or use.
Provenance: Part of a single owner collection of high quality Georgian and Victorian green glass from the Cheshire area.
Both very good for period, wear is very restrained. There are of course slight differences between them as they are hand made. Nice tooling marks to the feet.
