Its glossy black exterior is decorated with a naturalistic group of white daisies, smaller flowering stems and foliage, with a butterfly to one side.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe composition rises diagonally across the dark ground, leaving generous areas of undecorated lacquer around the flowers. Asymmetry and natural subjects were closely associated with the Japanese influence that became highly fashionable in British interiors and decorative arts during the later 19th century.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe interior is finished in vivid red, a striking contrast to the black exterior.
