Description

A Minton Art Deco period plate with pate sur pate panels by Alboin Birks. This white ground plate has three panels around the rim interlinked by gilt patterns. The panels are blue ground with white pate sur pate. These items are of course some of the highest regarded of Minton production and they were hugely expensive in their time due to the failure rate during production and the man hours needed for the decorative process. On this example two of the panels are monogrammed AB and the other is signed A Birks. Alboin Birks studied under the master of pate sur pate (Louis Solon formerly of Sevres) at Minton.

A rare plate for the collector.


Condition

Particularly good order, minimal wear. Some glaze accumulation to the foot rim from production owing to the large number of firings these items were subjected to.
