Pair Antique George II English Silver Sugar Tongs - Henry Plumpton c1750 (Code 2801)
Description
A pair of sugar tongs dating to the mid 18th century Georgian period. They have partial hallmarks to each handle ring with the lion and HP for Henry Plumpton. The small workers register for this period was lost, but there are references to this maker during the period and the lion mark is consistent with a date around 1750.
The tongs have shell formed ends and there are initials engraved to the pivoting area. A very interesting pair from the George II period.
