Description

A pair of Art Deco vases in the pomegranate pattern by S Hancock & Sons of the Staffordshire Potteries.  They date around 1930 and hark from the same era as Moorcroft's tubelined version.  The style of decoration was termed Rubens Ware with a high gloss finish and mottled strong colours and bold patterns.  The shape is the classic Meiping taken from the Chinese.  Printed marks to the bases.


Condition

Both pieces in very good order with some minor crazing.  There are a few specs in the glaze from firing as is usual for Rubens Ware.
