Rare Art Deco Etling of Paris Opalescent Glass Brin d' Muguet Cake Stand (Code 1727)
An Art Deco period Etling opalescent glass stand. It is in the Brin d' Muguet (Lily of the Valley) pattern, a flower associated with the 1st May Labour day celebration in France. The top is flat and there are four bracket shaped feet and it was perhaps intended for cakes or general food display. The opalescence is particularly strong in this example, and it defines the pattern particularly well as can be seen. It is interesting comparing the opalescent formulas from the period as the competing factories all looked a little different. This Etling piece is very comparable to Lalique if even a bit more vaseline/wet looking and especially attractive, Etling pieces are also significantly fewer in number than Lalique although as yest this is not reflected in market prices.
Very good order, minor wear and scratches, slight moulding imperfections from manufacture as normal for for this age.
