Vintage Siamese Sterling Silver Art Deco Period Cigarette Box With Deity Panel (Code 0938)
An early 20th century silver lidded box from Siam (modern day Thailand). It dates around 1930 and you can see the Art Deco influence has reached even this far East. The top features a central design of a deity withing scrolling leaves. The box is wood lined and it was probably intended for cigarettes originally. It is marked to the underside Sterling Siam. The lid doesn't have a catch and is just a gravity close and the hinges work fine. A stylish piece, ideal as a desk or small jewel box.
Normal period wear, does have various indents - see images along with wear to the base.
