William Moorcroft for James Macintyre Antique Rare Colourway Florian Ware Vase (Code 1675)
A James Macintyre Florian range vase designed by William Moorcroft and produced by the Burslem based factory just before WW1. It is in a very rare colourway using the pattern normally associated with the green gold series, but being glazed in the more traditional blue and sky blue colours with addition of gilt to the body. It certainly works as a colour combination and I prefer this look to the green gold which seems a bit harsher. The vase is of broad baluster form with a collar around the neck. The base has the usual Macintyre brown backstamp to the base along with the WM des signature mark in green script.
Minor wear and the usual small glaze inconsistencies from production. Period crazing to the body some of which has a light brown tone, see images 6 for a close up of this.
