WWII Sterling Silver RAF Sweetheart Powder Compact Engine Turned & Wings Logo (Code 2219)
A lovely engine turned silver compact by William Neale and Son of the jewellery quarter in Birmingham. It has the Birmingham hallmark for 1939, so was likely gifted as a sweetheart piece by an airman who went to serve during the war. It has the RAF logo to the front in rose gold tone set into the engine turning. The interior has a mirror inset into the lid and the hallmarks are found to the base, the screen and puff are no longer present although it still has the smell of the powder. A fine sentimental piece of WWII history.
Good for period with some minor wear and two very minor indents to the underside. No screen/puff, hinge and catch good and still tight. Some scratching to the interior base around the 11 o'clock position.
