Description
A beautiful early 20th century brooch made for the Halley's comet event in 1910. It has a crescent shape representing the moon encrusted with seed pearls. Above is a star shape set with an old European cut diamond representing the comet followed by gold trails further set with seed pearls. The crescent has a gallery base and the brooch has an early type of roll over catch. There are no hallmarks which is not unusual for its period. There are some hand scratched numbers which will be the jewellers reference etc. The gold tests around 15ct.

Condition: Diamond and pearls in very good order for period. There is a small old repair to the reverse of one of the comet tails with an extra piece of gold added to strength and repair a tiny fracture. This is not visible for normal use. Pin and clasp working fine.
