Description

An early 20th century Austrian silver cigarette case.  It has engine turn detail with blue guilloche enamel over the radial pattern.  As is common for Austrian cases it is quite heavy and substantially constructed.  It has spring clasp and hinged on the short edge. Inside the case it has Austrian marks on either side.  It is their traditional small silver mark for 800 grade silver from Vienna. There are eyelets inside for straps to hold in the cigarettes, these are no longer present.  The case is quite slim so would only have taken the very slim cigarettes of the period.  
 
 

Condition

Presents well as can be seen.  Around the edge of the enamel some of the protective layer has been worn down which is visible in the right light. A section of the white border enamel missing near the hinge.   Further minor wear and scratches as expected.  One corner has an indentation.  Interior with some natural toning.  Hinge and spring lock working fine.
