Antique Georgian Regency / William IV Rosewood Portable Writing Box / Inkstand (Code 2150)
A Regency or William IV period rosewood portable inkstand & writing box. It features a turned wood carrying handle and flip opening lids. It also has a slim drawer to the lower part for documents, paper etc. To the lid it has inlaid mother-of-pearl detail to the lid in the 1830's style. The interior has two areas for pens, a central lidded reserve and two inkwell spaces. It comes with two brass lidded inkwells to complete the look. It is a fine looking stylish example and would make a great feature item in a study or period desk.
Very good for period. Some light wear and scratches to the surface as expected, the overall finish is good with nice gloss. Some marks to the interior pen spaces from use. A slither of veneer missing near one of the feet (lower corner in image 7). Shrinkage split in base plank. Hole in corner of one inkwell.
