Antique Indian Swami Silver Vases with Hindu Deities - Madras Region c1880 (Code 2763)
Description
A pair of late 19th century Indian silver vases. They are in the Swami style and come from the Madras region in Southern India. They are decorated with Hindu deities in relief with further decorative leaf forms. The rims are crimped into petal shape. Interestingly the bodies are slightly compressed into a trigonal form to match the three deities at this point (there are usually two or four). Nice style and a decent gauge of silver, very evocative of the region.
There are no marks and they test as high grade silver around the Sterling standard.
Condition
Minor age related wear and rubbing from cleaning. Some compression and knocks to the feet so they will rock on a flat surface.
