Antique Stourbridge Aesthetic/Persian Inspired Hand Painted Milk Glass Vase (Code 2018)

  • £14500

Description

At first look this item would appear to be a Royal Worcester vase from their Persian range. However it is actually made of glass, hand blown and with raised gilt work. The patterns on the shoulder and neck are created in raised gold. The body has hand painted flowers again with raised detail and the style is again very much in line with the Worcester shot enamel form and the Aesthetic period.

There is a mark to the base which just reads P310. This item is perhaps from Webb of Stourbridge, some elements are not dissimilar from their ivory cameo range, and the mark to the base does not look out of place for a date around 1870-90. Not something I have ever come across before, and it is both a charming piece and very attractive.

Condition

Just some minor wear and gilt rubbing with the odd small scratch. Overall very good for period and a lovely item.
