Description
An antique late 19th century Victorian period locket. It is a gold back and front example with a hand painted enamel panel to the front and two spaces for portraits to the interior. There are no marks but the exterior tests as 9 carat gold. The interior retaining rings are not gold. The front has a beautifully done panel of an open book and snowdrops above. The black and white theme is very tasteful. To the reverse it has elaborate etched detail with leaves and scrolling detail. At the top it has a suspension loop. The inside has two oval openings for fitting photographs, the original fitting rings are in place and there are replacement plastic covers. Overall a beautiful example.

Condition: There are a some scratches to the enamel but nothing which spoils it. The suspension loop is a bit worn towards the top. Normal age related wear as you would expect.
