Description
An antique Victorian bullseye and banded agate large brooch. This chunky brooch dates to the mid Victorian period and is set with natural agates. The main stone is a large bullseye agate approx. 35mm x 25mm. The central area is a very dark reddish brown. Around the outside are smaller round agate cabochons with central bands, these are approx. 8.8mm in diameter. They are set in a deep gilt metal bezel.
It has a pin with safety roll over catch which will be mid 20th century replacement. There is a safety chain with pin. These agate examples are becoming increasingly hard to find and have quite a wow factor when worn.

Condition: Overall very good for period and very eye-catching. Minor wear to the metal. The pin and catch are mid 20th century replacements.
