Description
A Victorian Aesthetic Period large locket and book chain. The locket is of highly decorated form with chased detail to the centre lozenge area. It opens and would allow two photographs inside. The internal area is oval and approx. 43mm x 35mm. One side is glazed, the other just has the fabric. Both retaining rings are present. The locket is hallmarked to the reverse. The assay is from the Birmingham office with date letter for 1884. The chain is the star of the show with cut detail. It connected via a large spring ring which is typical for this style of necklace. We have not found any marks to the chain which is common for these items.

Condition: Chain very good with minor wear. Locket with a number of tiny indents to the reverse. The central decorative panel perhaps compressed slightly in the centre. Spring rings working well. One interior section glazed, the other unglazed.
