Description
A Victorian sterling silver locket with rose and yellow gold detail to the front. It is hallmarked to the reverse although the date letter is rubbed. These are typically of the late 19th century period c.1870 to 1890. It comes with an unusual chain which is of quite sturdy construction and mariner links. It has a spring ring fixing which has an Italy tag, the spring ring is a later replacement. Originally it would have had a larger type spring ring. An interesting feature is that the locket hinge is on the right which is less common. Inside the locket it has purple fabric lining and it has one retaining ring in place. There is no glass.

Condition: Normal period wear. Some indents to the reverse of the locket and to the bale. Hallmarks partially rubbed. Spring ring clasp is later replacement. No glass to interior.
