Description

A beautiful Wedgwood dragon lustre bowl in the Z4831 pattern known as celestial dragons.  The bowl is of pedestal form with an ogee bowl.  Inside it has a turquoise glaze with one serpentine dragon coiling around and an intricate Eastern style design to the inside base.  There is also a flaming pearl and the symbolism is Chinese for chasing enlightenment.  The bowl exterior has a blue/grey/green streaked glaze with gilt dragons and there is a further flaming pearl to the base.  
 
The underside of the foot is in green and has the Wedgwood gold printed mark.  The bowl dates to the 1920's and was designed by Daisy Makeig Jones.
 

Condition

Very good order for period.  Tiny gold losses to the edge of the foot rim.  Minimal wear to the interior.  A few dark underglaze spots from production.
