Description

An Art Deco period sterling silver cigarette case.  This smaller sized example was perhaps intended for a lady and would take the thin cigarettes popular during this period. The top and bottom faces are engine turned and the border is polished.  It has a spring latch opening and the hinge is spring loaded to open automatically.  There is a gilt wash to the interior and the original elastic which has now lost its stretch.   The hallmark inside the case is for the London assay office with date letter for 1937.   The makers mark is probably for Thomas William Lack.

Condition

Some normal age related wear to the exterior with light scratches and scuffs.  One very minor indent near the hinge.  Interior with some patination in the corners.  Original elastic no longer stretchy.
