Description

A fine quality silver sweetmeat basket or bonbon dish dating to the final year of the 19th century.  Quite deeply dished form with elaborate pierced work detail and sculptured rim.  It stands on four decorative feet with acanthus type detail.  Nice clear hallmarks for Sheffield 1899 and the maker Joseph Rogers, there is also their logo mark of the star and cross.  Further marked to the base 3680 1/4.

Good gauge of silver, quite substantial for size and would stand up to regular use.

 

Condition

Minor wear, two small indents to the base.  Minor rock on a flat surface.
