Description
A Georgian wine glass with a double series opaque twist stem (DSOT). It is an English example made in lead glass dating circa 1760. It is of three part construction, bowl, stem and foot were made individually and joined together in the glass works
The stem has a pair of flat tapes in entwined spiral corkscrew with a pair of cords. The foot is quite deeply conical and the bowl is a rounded funnel form with nice tooling marks visible around the rim portion. The pontil scar has been left rough.
The glass material used is brighter than average for the period and it is a well executed and quite handsome piece.
Condition
Very good for period, wear is very restrained. There is a captured air bubble to the bowl and some tiny air bubbles and mineral inclusions in the foot as expected. No restoration / repolishing.
