Pair Antique Meiji Japanese Bronze & Mixed Metal Damascene Vases with Mount Fuji (Code 1908)
A pair of very attractive late 19th or early 20th century Japanese bronze and mixed metal vases. They use the damascene technique to inlay white and yellow metal over the very attractively toned bronze base. The scenes are traditionally Japanese with Mount Fuji in the background and a house with waterside scene in the foreground. Both are signed with a character mark to the edge of the decoration. Lovely decorative pieces with a real sense of the Japanese aesthetic.
Normal light wear with minor scuffs and scratches typical of the period. Some patination to the rim (which appears to be brass). Lovely decorative examples as can be seen.
