Description
A vintage 9ct gold ring with a striking lab grown blue spinel. These stones were popular for a short time in the late 1960's and 70's and have a very distinct look. The gem has an intense blue tone with electric blue flashes seeming to come from deep inside. The band has decorative notches at the shoulders and the shoulders are bifurcated at the north south axis. The mount is a basket type with double clawed prongs.
Inside the band it has an older style British 9ct mark and is also marked SYN/ST denoting the stone is lab grown. Lab grown stones are identical to natural gems and test the same but they are generally free of impurities and faults unlike mined stones. As they are created in a lab they do not have the environment issues of mined stones or have the worry of social problems making them an increasingly popular choice.
