Anthony Elson Sterling Silver Millennium Fountain Pen 18ct Gold Nib - Goldsmiths (C2945)
Description
A sterling silver fountain pen produced to commemorate the Millennium and was designed by Anthony Elson, Goldsmith & Silversmith, London, with CAD CAM engine turning undertaken by David Pledge. The pen is particularly rare with the last example to come to market 9 years ago from our research, so the new owner will be in a very exclusive club.
The barrel is finely engraved with a series of motifs associated with Goldsmiths' Hall, including the leopard, demi-maiden and covered cup, set against a vertically engine-turned ground. Millennium hallmarks are struck around the barrel with the sponsors mark AGE for Anthony Elson. The cap is engraved with the Goldsmith's motto 'Justitia Virtutem Regina'
The pen is presented in its original fitted presentation case. The interior is printed with the names of both Anthony Elson and David Pledge. The pen is fitted with an 18ct gold nib and operates via a screw-type ink plunger filling system. The cap is a screw type and the overall quality of manufacture reflects the specialist nature of the commission.
The pen is very heavy for it's size and quite a masterpiece.
