Description
A very attractive aesthetic period cup and saucer decorated with snowdrops over a mint green ground. The handle of the cup has textured detail and gilt lining. Around the lower part of the cup there is moulded feather detail and this is mirrored in the saucer. Both pieces have a Victorian registration lozenge which is printed on the cup and impressed on the saucer. This dates the design to 1876. It is also marked E.J ? ? which is somewhat unclear but possibly for E J Bodley which would match with the time period.
Condition
Cup with minor fritting around the foot which appear to be from firing. It also has some light period wear and some short darkened lines inside the cup where the well transitions to the wall. These do not penetrate to the exterior. The saucer has some wear to the design from stacking but this is quite limited as is seen in the images.
