Description

An early 20th century lidded jar by Coalport.  It has a oval reserve hand painted with a Scottish scene.  The star of the show is the turquoise jewels which run all over the gilded panel. It has a lift off lid so it could be used for pot pourri etc.  To the base it has the Coalport mark in green along with the retailers details G. W. Darby of Market Street Nottingham.  It would date around 1910
 

Condition

There are some small faults to the turquoise jewels to the left of the painted panel with some small chips to the top of the enamel and one jewel having some small damage.  There is gilt rubbing to the foot rim and there is fine crazing to the body as typical for Coalport of this period.
