Antique Derbyshire Blue John Fluorspar Turned & Polished Small Bowl (Code 2225)
A lovely early 20th century Derbyshire blue john turned and polished small bowl. It has a great display of the crystal lattice form to the base and sides and the rim is tinged with deep purple. There is a further orange type striation through the sides. The base has been flat ground and left plain. It has been quite finely turned and the walls are a bit thinner than often seen helping show off the structure. A very pretty example of this increasingly scarce and sought after uniquely British mineral.
Very good order, it has natural flaws and veins as is the nature of blue john. Slight indent to the foot rim edge which looks to be a small slip during polishing.
