Description

The card holder is open, designed to display visiting cards or provide quick access if carried. The surface is worked with acanthus scroll decoration to the upper and lower registers, with zig-zag line borders between. To the front, a vacant cartouche sits at the centre - left unengraved.

The curved form is not merely decorative: the gentle bow allows the piece to stand independently on a desk without a separate support. The interior carries a light gilt wash.

A full Birmingham assay office hallmark is struck to the reverse with a date letter for 1903.

Condition

Generally good with minor period wear. No significant knocks or indents.
