Description

An early 19th century Anglo-Irish design sweetmeat jar and cover.  Quite a nice small sized example which would probably have been used for preserves etc. It has an inset lid with a lapidary cut knop.  The body has a ribbed cut rim and foot and there are diamond cuts to the body.  The pontil has been left rough snapped. There are some air bubble and mineral inclusions as typical of the period. 
 
 
Condition

 

Good for period. the odd small nick including a few to the knop.  Wear to the foot rim and some obvious captured air bubbles in places typical for period.
