Description

An early 20th century antique Japanese lacquer box.  It is in a forest green tone which is less common.  To the top it has gilded designs including a bird and a foliate panel.  The interior has dark brown lacquer and a tea dust style effect. 
 
The hinges and lock are fixed with panel pins rather than screws.  The lock works and it comes with a key as seen in the images. At the size the box may have been used for a scroll but will of course suit multiple purposes. 
 
 
  
Condition

 

Some period wear and rubbing of the gilt. Typical marks and light scratches and indents. A small section of green repainted to the lower right corner right at the base. See images for general presentation.
