Antique Japanese Satsuma Ware Vase with Rakan & Dragon Signed Maruni (Code 2649)

Summary

A small Japanese Satsuma vase with black ground, painted with Rakan figures and decorated with a gilt dragon and moulded dragon around the shoulders.

Description

The vase is painted on a black ground with Rakan - the Buddhist disciples - and features a dragon with raised white enamel detail. A further moulded dragon in gilt encircles the shoulders. Signed to the base for Maruni, it dates to the late Meiji or Taisho period.

Condition

Some period wear to the gilt and the small white enamel dots. Please study the images for general presentation.
