Description

A rare and very fine Royal Doulton vase by Harry Allen.  It is in Doulton's titanian glaze with moody blue tones and the lovely random effects associated with this technique. It features two gulls above a foaming wave crest.  It is signed towards the base H. Allen.  It has the standard Doulton mark to the base in black with a hand scripted number 1029 and is also incised M6.
 
The body is china and titanian ware was produced around 1915 to 1929. This form decorated with birds are increasingly hard to obtain.  This is a particularly nice example. 
 
The glaze is quite high gloss so there are some lighting reflections in the images particularly around the shoulder and baluster area.
 
 
 
Condition

 

Very fine condition for period.  Minimal signs of wear or production flaws.
