Summary

An antique silver plated double sovereign case dating from the late Victorian or Edwardian period, with separate spaces for full and half sovereigns, a hinged lid and a suspension ring.

Description

This compact case opens to reveal two fitted spaces, one for full sovereigns and one for half sovereigns. The rounded rectangular body has softly curved edges and a plain silver plated finish, while the inside of the lid is brightly reflective. A circular suspension ring is fitted to one end, allowing the case to be carried or attached.

The case is a practical two denomination holder with the two circular compartments arranged side by side within the body. No maker's or silver marks have been found. It would date to the late Victorian or Edwardian period.

Condition

Good antique condition with period wear to the plating consistent with age and use. There is a pinhead sized indent to one side. The case opens, closes and functions correctly.
