Description

A late 19th century Victorian period banded (bullseye) agate choker necklace.  The beads are of large size, graduating from 15.2mm at the clasp with the largest central bead at 20.4mm.  It is hand strung and knotted on brown cord.  The fixing is a brass screws barrel type typical of this period.  The overall length is 44.5cm (17 1/2 inch).  The beads are all natural agate which have been polished.

Condition:  Beads in good order for period with minor wear.  The beads of course have natural striations and lines.  One bead has some small surface voids from a natural fault line running through the centre (close up image provided).  Stringing aged but functional.  Clasp working fine.
