Description

A substantial and impressive Victorian sweetmeat jar with lid.  It has a deep rolled over rim to the body which is diamond cut. The main body also has diamond and flute cuts and the short pedestal stem is also flute cut.  It has a substantial solid square base with star burst cut to the underside and the knop of the lid has radial cuts.  This would have been made more for display than use due to the very heavy nature of its construction. 
 
 
Condition

 

Small chip to one lower corner of the base and a few minor nicks and flea bites around the foot edges.  A 6mm x 3mm flake chip to the inner rim of the lid, but no faults that significantly affect the display or use.
