Description
An antique Victorian large Scottish mixed agate brooch. The brooch has eight panels of four different stone types including agate and bloodstone. The mount is gilt metal, the outer border is of twisted form with decorative embossed detail. To the centre is a clear paste gem.
To the reverse it has a standard pin and c hook fixing. There is an open section to the back which may originally have had a cover allowing for a keepsake to be housed. There is a safety chain and pin attached through the outer mount. It would date to the 19th century somewhere around the 1870's

Condition: The stones are in very good order for period. There is some wear to the gilt metal. It may originally have had a cover to the back.
