An antique Royal Worcester blush ivory pedestal urn vase, dated 1905, with a pierced pedestal base, twin handles, floral decoration and gilt work throughout.

Description

The form is urn and pedestal - the urn raised on a separately worked pedestal with pierced reticulated decoration, a construction that requires considerable skill . The urn itself has twin handles and carries floral decoration to the body with gilt work running across the shoulders, handles and rim.

The blush ivory ground is characteristic of Royal Worcester's output from the 1880s through to the Edwardian period - a warm, slightly tinted ivory that was one of the factory's most commercially successful finishes and is now among its most collected.

To the underside, the Royal Worcester mark is printed with the date code for 1905, placing it in the Edwardian period. A design registration number is also present - an indication that this was a protected pattern rather than a standard production form, and one that is now scarce and difficult to obtain.

Condition

Minor gilt wear commensurate with age. A good, clean example overall.
