Description
A wonderful Victorian large sterling silver locket on a book chain. The locket has vertical details with floral bands and geometric designs. To the back the locket has a hallmark from the Birmingham assay office with date letter for 1881. The chain is not marked but also tests as sterling silver. Inside the locket there is one glazed panel with a retention ring which has the lion silver mark. The other side is just an open area. The locket also has a bale which has the lion silver mark.
The book chain alternates between decorated and open links and it is attached to the locket via a large hand made spring ring which is typical of this period and style. These items are becoming increasingly hard to find on the market.

Condition: Chain very good with period wear. Spring ring working fine. Locket with normal wear and the odd tiny indent to the front. Some small indents and scuffing to the back - see images for overall presentation.
